About The Writing Practice

Kay Mohlman, PhD.

The Writing Practice is a personal consultancy based in Singapore geared to meet the needs of university faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and all those engaged in professional scholarly publication in the arts and social sciences. I provide ongoing support to help you manage your scholarly writing through a primary focus on idea development, draft writing, and building or expanding a publication portfolio, with a secondary focus on enhancing written forms of professional presentation and scholarly communication.

The purpose of the Writing Practice is to promote your continued development as a scholarly author. As such, the immediate focus of any consultation is to provide a means of identifying and accomplishing the writing tasks at hand, while the broader goal is to further the cognitive development that underlies creative competence, intellectual maturity, and a sense of being part of a scholarly community of writers and readers. All these are aspects of writing that underlie a successful scholarly publishing career.

The techniques and approaches I use are suitable for those writing in English as either a native or acquired language. Please note that the services I offer are arranged on the basis of in-person consultations only.
